Windows Server 2020 – The Facts You Need to Know

This is big news for Linux based hosting providers who are trying to get their businesses into the Windows Server 2020 world. One of the things that they should be considering is offering Linux hosting for those organizations that are taking advantage of the new infrastructure.

Windows Server and its associated technologies such as Active Directory, Hyper-V, Windows 10, SQL Server and others can be used to run on Linux servers. However, this type of technology needs to be customized for each business. Windows Server is not a platform for all types of businesses and requires a different mix of applications in order to provide adequate support.

In many cases, you will find that the Linux server is simpler to use than Windows. Also, the development team and the maintenance of the Linux servers are better. Some even say that it is easier to migrate from Windows Server to Linux, compared to those who have already migrated from Windows. The main reason why this can happen is because there are already some good quality packages, so it does not take too much time to install and manage.

Another major advantage that Windows is ahead of Linux in terms of infrastructure is the ability to add storage space. With Windows, you would need to spend hours on repairs and upgrading. With Linux, you only need to spend a couple of minutes. However, if you have customers who use very large data storage and you want to keep your servers at a specific capacity, then you would still need to upgrade and spend hours in order to meet the needs of your customers.

Another huge advantage that Windows has over Linux is the ability to run more applications in the same space. You cannot run Windows with many programs in the same space as a Linux host and vice versa. In some cases, you would need more disk space to run programs than what is available on the RAM of the Linux servers.

It also takes longer to set up and configure an IT infrastructure that is run on Windows. You also cannot run the same type of features that you would want on Windows, such as SSL support, IIS, etc. Linux is designed with many of these features and there is no need to change the operating system to meet the needs of your business.
